Pixelate Photoshop Action

With the Pixelate Photoshop Action you can easily give any text, vector or raster shape a pixelated image style with a single click of the mouse. The action comes with 4 different pixel sizes (4, 8 , 12 and 16) for you to choose from.

Simply create a new file in Photoshop, type your text or place your object in a new layer and run the action. In less than a minute you will have it like a retro tech pixelated one. Once the action finish, you can easily adjust the brightness, contrast, levels and more with the adjustments layers created in a new layer group for you to edit.

Besides text, you can also use the action with any type of smart objects, vector or raster shapes. Simply place your vector or raster shape in a new layer above the background, and run the action.

How to install (action):

  1. Open Photoshop.
  2. In the Actions Panel click on the top right icon and from the dropdown menu select "Load Actions".
  3. Locate the "Medialoot - Pixelate.atn" file and click on Load.

How to use:

  1. Open Photoshop and make a new file.
  2. In a new layer, type your text, draw your shape or place your smart object or raster image (be sure to have only 1 layer above the background)
  3. Select any of the Pixelate Actions and click on the play button.

How to increase/decrease colors:

  1. Expand the "Pixelated" layer group.
  2. Double click on the "Coloring" layer thumbnail.
  3. Set any number of colors you want.

How to change outline color:

  1. Expand the "Pixelated" layer group.
  2. Double click on the "Change Outlines Color" layer thumbnail.
  3. Pick any color and click OK.
